Mission Statement
Their Stories is a student-run nonprofit organization aiming to channel youth political involvement and activism in order to create legislative change in the United States.
Founder's Purpose
Their Stories was founded in response to the political apathy our founder, Niharika Emani, saw in her peers. Niharika often felt angry and frustrated with how politicians seemed to ignore pressing issues in favor of corporate checks. She turned to her fellow students, hoping that together, they could make a difference in a flawed world. However, instead of using their voice as a tool of advocacy and change, students shrugged off her concerns, using their young age and the belief that "there was nothing they could do" as a justification.
Not willing to accept the worrying state of American government and policy as permanent, Niharika started Their Stories, aiming to connect students and young people to politics, activism, and tangible change. At Their Stories, youth aim for large, systemic change through ambitious solutions that address consequential, complex issues.
